Hydrogen as a cosmological probe

Matteo Viel (SISSA)

Thursday 28/03/2019 @ 11:30, Sala IV piano Battiferro

In this talk I will review the role of neutral hydrogen as a tracer of density perturbations in the high redshift Universe. I will focus on the Lyman-alpha forest observations at high and low resolution to probe the nature of dark matter snd cosmological parameters including neutrino masses. I will then review simple models able to characterize the intensity mapping signal at 21 cm, from large to small scales, and highlight their use to open a new window on structure formation.
