Measuring the duration of a gamma-ray burst: mission impossible?

Nothing seems more simple than measuring the duration of something. However, how much this measure is related to some physical event? In this seminar, I will explain all the complexity of measuring the duration of gamma-ray bursts, from the ultra-long events to the short ones, and why this is important to have it correctly done for the scientific studies of GRBs. I will also present some methods to increase the reliability of these measures, and what new missions such as THESEUS will bring on that topic.
