High-energy Blazars: The End

Ezequiel Marchesini (INAF - OAS Bologna)

Blazars, those AGNs whose jet is aligned to the line of sight, are always intriguing. Although they are the rarest species of AGNs in terms of numbers, they are also the ones who are detected over the whole range of the electromagnetic spectrum. In recent years, I have been studying the relation between the gamma-ray and X-ray emission from these objects, to assess if the X-ray detection can be an useful tool to identify unknown gamma-ray blazars, given the low positional accuracy of the latter band. This process involved both Swift/XRT automatic data reduction and clustering, and optical observational follow-up campaigns, which were carried out together with several colleagues at OASBo. To continue with the tradition, in this seminar I will talk about the final results on this project I developed during my PhD years.
