Understanding Galaxy Formation with Dynamically Informative Metal-Poor Stars in the Milky Way

Daniela Carollo (INAF—Osservatorio Astronomico di Trieste)

Thursday 15/02/2024 @ 11:30, Sala Antonio Sollima (IV piano Battiferro)

Galaxies formation and the early chemical enrichment of the Universe are fundamental topics in modern astrophysics. Fossils stars in the Milky Way and its satellites can be used as tracers of both processes offering an amazing laboratory in the Local Universe. In this seminar I will review some of my research activity based on the chemo-dynamical analyses of large samples of metal-poor stars in the Milky Way. In all these analyses the aim is to understand the assembly processes of the Galaxy and the early chemical enrichment of galactic building blocks.
