Dr. Pierre Cox is one of the most influential scientists working in the fields of infrared and millimeter-wavelength astronomy. His scientific production includes more than 250 papers in refereed journals, and it ranges from studies of Galactic star-forming regions to the search and characterization of high-redshift galaxies. In 2006, we was appointed Director of the Institut de radioastronomie millimetrique (IRAM) in France. In 2013, he became Director of the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA), a position he held until 2018. These two assignments, together with his prolific scientific production and his extensive network of collaborations, made Dr. Cox a protagonist in shaping nowadays mm astronomy.
