Curriculum vitae

I am a researcher whose main interest is cosmology. In particular, I study the origin of the Universe and its evolution to the present day through the cosmic microwave background radiation and the large scale structure. I study the first lights after the dark ages by studying the reionization epoch and I quest for the origin of cosmic magnetism, being a renowned expert in primordial magnetic fields. I am interested in the early Universe and in particular inflation, cosmic birefringence and isocurvatures, I work also in modified gravity and in particular scalar tensor theories. I work at the interface between theoretical modelling and predictions and the data analisys and scientific interpretation.1

I graduated with honors in Astrophysics at the University of Bologna in 2007. I received my PhD in Astroparticle Physics at the University of Ferrara in 2011. Thanks to the participation of the University of Ferrara in the IDAPP program (International Doctorate on AstroParticle Physics), I also obtained a French PhD at the University of Paris Diderot-Paris VII the same year. Since my PhD I have always been involved in research through various postdoc contracts at INAF Bologna and from the end of December 2025 I am a researcher of INAF-OAS. 2

I am part of the LiteBIRD collaboration as the leader of the project study group dedicated to primordial magnetic fields and I participate to the inflation studies (LiteBIRD). I am part of the Fossil,FTS fOr CMB Spectral diStortIon expLoration, collaboration working on the effects of primordial magnetic fields on spectral distortions. I have been part of the Planck collaboration as Planck scientist and core2 member. I have been the leader of the working group dedicated to primordial magnetic fields and one of the key persons in the inflation working group, having realized the iconic ns-r plot (Planck). I have also participated to several proposals for CMB missions as COrE, COrE+, PRISM, Fossil M7, Pristine. I am also part of the Euclid satellite collaboration where I work in the theory and the CMB cross correlation working groups studying modified gravity and isocurvatures (Euclid )3

Outside the research world I am an artist under the name Peracturus. I am both a classical and a digital artist spanning from painting idyllic sceneries and darker emotional drawings to cartooning and illustrations, and at the same time 2 and 3D works in digital using photoshop and blender. 4

In the recent years I have merged my two worlds putting my artistic side at the service of outreach and education by joining the PLAY-INAF group. In particular I am the author (together with Diego Molinari) and artist behind the Accendi la tua stella game (Accendi la tua stella) and together with VisitLab CINECA we developed the full immersive video Destinazione Terra a journey across the Universe at the discovery of our cosmic neighborhood (Destinazione terra ) .5
