Cosmic ballet – dwarf galaxies as critical test for standard cosmology

Dwarf galaxies are powerful testbeds to study cosmology on small-scales. In the Local Group, several discrepancies between theoretical predictions and observations of dwarfs have been identified and dubbed as a small-scale crisis, with the distribution and motions of dwarf galaxies in thin, co-rotating planes being the most controversially discussed problem. To extend such studies, we have conducted surveys to probe other nearby galaxy groups and search for faint dwarf galaxies. In my talk, I will provide evidence that the small-scale problems persist in other galaxy groups, most notably in the Centaurus A group. Is therefore the cosmological model in grave danger, or are we falling into the trap of small-number statistics?
