New Science from the oldest light: CMB anisotropies and what they teach us

Elena Pierpaoli (University of Southern California)

Thursday 26/11/2026 @ 14:30, Sala Antonio Sollima (IV piano Battiferro)

The study of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) greatly shaped our current understanding of the Universe. Modern CMB experiments now survey large areas of the sky with even higher resolution and sensitivity. These data yield more precise power?spectrum measurements and enable new cosmological probes via cross?correlation analyses with galaxy surveys. I will review the current status of the CMB field, highlight the science unlocked by cross?correlations, present some examples, including the first detection of the moving?lens effect, and discuss projected results from the Simons Observatory.
