Results from 10 yr of activities of the HAWC Gamma Ray Observatory

Anna Lia Longinotti (UNAM, Mexico)

Thursday 12/12/2024 @ 11:30, Sala Antonio Sollima (IV piano Battiferro)

The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) Gamma-ray Observatory situated on the top of the Sierra Negra volcano in Mexico is a second-generation wide field-of-view TeV observatory. With a 95% on-time operational efficiency and observing two-thirds of the entire overhead sky every 24 hrs, HAWC has given us a new view of the TeV Universe. The recently completed “Pass 5” data reconstruction yielded significant improvements in low energy response, angular resolution, background rejection. In March 2025 HAWC will accomplish 10 years of continuos observations of the gamma-ray sky. This talk will present an overview of HAWC recent and most important results spanning from our updated sky catalog, our view of the highest energy gamma-ray sky (including sources above 50 and 100 TeV), new results on micro-quasar, long-term monitoring of nearby AGN and recent observations of galactic Pevatrons.
